The Mushy-Ushy Love Stuff

Happy Valentines Day... To you!

Below are the lyrics to the song Colby and I danced to at our wedding... I love it. It is just the perfect words... love doesn't have to be fancy, or have a good reason, it just has to be true... and you have to give it all you have-EVERYday!
I love you Colby- more every moment if it is possible. Thank you for loving me and for being such a wonderful, hard working, supportive husband.  You are the absolute best father, Lucy is so lucky!
I am SO blessed to have you to share this life with.  It may not be fancy, but it is absolutely perfect to me!

There's nothing fancy 'bout the way I love you,
There's nothing you could not find in any other man.
There's nothing fancy bout the way I love you,
But I love you as hard as I can.

There's no good reason for the way you love me,
But you're my walking dream come true.
There's no good reason for the way you love me,
But I thank God that you do.

I don't know the perfect conversation,
I don't know the way to turn a head,
I don't know the perfect way to prove my love,
But I know I'll love you till I'm dead.

There's nothing fancy 'bout the way I love you,
It's as simple as the stars in the sky, and the blue in the sea.
There's nothing fancy bout the way I love you,
But it sure is fancy how you love me.
-Dave Barnes

I can't close it without my favorite old school song coming into my head...
"You're all I need, my love... my Valentine"  (thanks Martina)

Have a MERRY Valentines Day!!

Grammys or Whammys??

I vote Whammy. Whew.       B...OORRRR....ING...
I know. I know.  How harsh.. right?
But seriously by 9pm. My T.V. was off.

The Good Parts:

1) LL opening the Grammys on national television with a prayer to our Heavenly Father. WOW. I thought it was perfect. Amazing. and hopefully it reached out to many, many people. God is ALWAYS at work, my friends.  R.I.P. Whitney.

2) Rihanna's Armani dress:
Rihanna Armani black dress 2012 Grammy Awards

3) Taylor Swift's dress... stunning! (not so much her performance... it wasn't bad but she could have come up with a new song... or something.)

4) Jennifer Hudson singing "I will always love you".  WOW. No one can sing it like Whitney Houston but geez... she sure did come close. GREAT job.

And... yep. that's about all the excitement from the 2012 Grammys.
Like I said I turned off my T.V. at 9 ish (right after J.Hud)... so I missed all the Kylie Minogue drama/terrible performance.  GLAD I did.  My FB newsfeed was all in an uproar about how bad it was this morning.

And one last thought:
Katy, I love you, but the blue hair has to go.

Presidents... and Pinterest

We are learning about Presidents this week in my classroom... always makes for a fun conversation.
Exhibit A:

Student:  Who is this man? (pointing to a picture of Barack Obama)
Me: That is our President, Mr. Barack Obama
Student: Oh.  I don't like him.
Me: well each person gets to have their own opinion...
Student: Did you know George Washington is MY President?
Me: Yea, He was all of our President! He was the first President but that was a long time ago before any of us were born.
Student: (nodding yes) I sure miss him, don't you?

H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.

And for those parents out there... your children listen more than you think they do. :)  That's all I'll say.

I have been in a funky, blah mood today... I blame it on my allergies that have acted up all of the sudden today... just after I had recovered from sinus', I get another runny/stuffed up nose.. with sneezing on top = bad mood bears. BLAH.   I also blame it on the news this morning and Josh Powell... what was he thinking? and the social workers call to 911... I CAN. NOT. STOP. thinking about those two boys... who were first "attacked" then "blown up" when he exploded his house.. uh. I can't shake it. Sad... So Sad.  and that poor social worker. Doing her job but the boys got a step ahead of her.  What if they hadn't gone ahead.. would he have blown her up too?  Oh my... my heart ACHES for all of them.

As soon as I logged into Pinterest to waste time  browse new "pins", I found some much needed pick-me-ups...

Lucy's Baby Dedication

February 5, 2012. What a special, special Sunday it was.
Colby and I stood before our church (Ridgecrest Baptist) and promised to teach Lucy about Jesus, to live a Godly life before her, and to raise her to love the Lord with all of her heart, soul and mind.  As we promised this, the church also promised to us to help us, guide us, and be there for us and for Lucy as she grows up. Wow. What a blessing to have such a wonderful church family behind us as we raise our little girl.
This day was so special for us not only because of what it meant, but because we shared it with my brother and sister too.  Jon Martin and Weslee were also dedicated with Lucy.
What a memory!

Here are some photos from our day!

My blue eyed baby girl

Lucy wore her Colby's christening gown, which was hand sewn by Mrs. Dana (Colby's mom)
It was made with the lace from her grandmothers wedding dress... so special and SO beautiful!

Doctors,Doctors Go away!

Okay... it may not have the same ring as  "Rain, Rain, Go Away" but I REALLY need the Doctor visits to cease! I want my baby girl WELL!!! (and her momma, too)
The following is my "mommy" rant... just a warning. Rant/ Coping method... whatever.

My baby girl, is amazing... I mean literally... she is the BEST baby.  She is 99.9% of the time smiling, laughing, playing, and just a lot of fun. Fussy only when she is tired, wet, or hungry, but what person wouldn't fuss at that stuff!   I know.. I know.. you are reading that and rolling your eyes, cussing me under your breath, and all that is fine. BUT honestly, her behavior has nothing to do with Colby and I.. Lucy is just a naturally laid back, and happy baby!  I say all this to now announce that having the above "angel" baby left me ABSOLUTELY, totally unprepared for what happened last night... and now totally a sleep deprived MESS today.
When you have an infant that makes the definition of "night feedings" to mean waking up every 3 hours (on the dot), feeding, and instantly after the feeding your baby will be  back sound asleep, then by the age of 3 months she has taught herself to sleep through the night 8pm to 6am... you are most definitely NOT prepared when at 6 1/2 months she decided to arouse from her sleep at 12:45am SCREAMING and continue to do so for the. rest. of. the. night.

So a little recap before we get to last night:
Two weeks ago, I took Lucy into the doctor on a Monday because she was pulling on her ear and had a bad cold.  We saw Dr. J (who we LOVE) he said she had a fluid on her right ear so he put us on the antibiotic amococylin (sp?). We went back Thursday for our 6 month shots...he re-checked ears while we were there- looking better but still had fluid.  Got the shots, Lucy did really well with these, no fever! Fast forward to the next Monday (three days later) Lucy had started having a bad cough (aftermath of the cold.. I thought). Tuesday we arrive at daycare, literally the SECOND I arrive they say, "Has she been coughing?"  How funny, why yes... yes she has.  "Oh, well there are FOUR cases of RSV.. you need to have her checked".  Back to the doctor we go.. visit number three.  Dr. J did not have any open appointments this day so we saw another doctor... remember it has only been 4 days since we saw Dr. J who still saw fluid on Lu's ears... well anyways. This doctor looks at us like I'm crazy for having her here again.. I definitely go the "paranoid new mom" look.. but I tell him, "she's been coughing, still tugging at her ear... want to make sure the meds are working and that we don't have RSV".  Literally in 5 minutes we are in and out of there. He dashes the ear thingie in her ear, "all clear" "no RSV" "Just teething"... give her benadryl if she won't sleep.  REALLY? That's it? Okay... trust what the Doctor says.

So here we are...  this Wednesday night. Almost a week since our "All clear" Doctor visit.  (and all week she has been pulling on the ear but I keep thinking.. well "they said it was all clear"... ugh. ALWAYS TRUST YOUR MOMMY INSTINCTS!)

I have been feeling  feel like absolute POO because I am fighting my own sinus infection all week.  I had finally called my Doctor and had some meds called in for me.  Sent Colby to go and pick them up from the pharmacy (however, they weren't safe to take since I'm still breastfeeding) so scratch all that... Mommy is still waiting on Dr. to call in SAFE meds for me to take for said sinus infection... anyways... back to the story.  Lucy is being precious... rolling over on her mat, playing with us, then splashing all around in the bath tub.  8:15pm comes around time for her bottle, she drinks all of it as usual and passes out for the night.  I take a hot bath, and follow her to bed around 8:45... night night. all is well...
Fast forward... 12:45am... Lucy... SCREAMING.  I mean.... SCREAMING.
Whaaaatttt??? What has happened?? Colby and I both fly up out of bed... rush to her bed... "Lu"!! What's wrong sweet girl??
SCREAMING continues... she cannot breathe... so congested.... shaking her head back and forth, back and forth, tugging at her ears.  HOW has all of this happened since 8 o'clock? She was FINE and well when I tucked her in!!!
So for the next THREE hours... I held a screaming, hurting, PITIFUL baby girl.. my heart was broken!
Colby and I both were looking at each other like, "What do we do?"  UN-prepared.
I tell you what I did, I cried with her. Ha.  Sitting on the floor, next to the humidifier... holding Lucy elevated on a pillow... exhaustion took over.

We were able to get an appointment at 9am this morning with Dr. J. Thank goodness. Sweet Lu has a DOUBLE ear infection, on top of another cold.  Poor baby.  I can't imagine how much she was hurting last night!
All you momma's reading this know how much it HURTS your heart when your baby hurts.. oh it was pitiful.  So take note, mommies.... TRUST your gut.  If your baby is pulling on their ears, or shaking her head... or not "sucking" their bottle/paci like normal... it is NOT "just teething".
The good news.. Mommy and baby both have prescriptions waiting on us at the pharmacy.

Hopefully this will be the end to our 4 doctor visits in two weeks.

UGH. So aggravated at other doctor... so loving our sweet Dr. J who has saved the day, again.

Sweet Lu. Mommy hopes you feel better SOON!

and thanks Pinterest for this reminder:
